The sultry Priyanka Chopra along with her co star in the film ‘Love Story 2050′ Harman Baweja launched the jewellery line named as Ira-Love Story 2050 collection at Vie Lounge on June 24.
Priyanka picked out the little bird futuristic ring presented to her in the film as her favourite one from the collection and also told that she simply loved the designs of all the jewels.

Director of Ira Diamond Jewellery, industrialist Mr.Anikit Mehta said that Ira is the Jewellery that transcends time and ‘Love Story 2050′ is the film that travels through the time between generations and is the most awaited film of 2008 and the company conceptualized the designs according to the nature of the film and sensing Harman and Priyanka’s personality the jewels is the true symbol of timeless love.

The event was also partnered by Filmfare, Vie Lounge, Deck and Black Dog Whiskey. Megna Naidu, Celebrated dentist Dr.Mukul Dabholkar and Siddharth Kannan and Vasant Bhandari of UB Group attended the unveiling function.

His vegetarianism has won him a new label – now Bollywood mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan is ‘Asia’s Sexiest Vegetarian Man’ for 2008. A poll by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has selected Bachchan for the top male slot and Hong Kong’s singer-actress Faye Wong as Asia’s Sexiest Vegetarian Woman for this year.

The 65-year-old Bachchan has ruled the silver screen in India for approximately four decades, Wong — called as the “diva of Asia” – looks gorgeous on covers of reputed lifestyle magazines like ‘Vogue’, ‘Elle’ and ‘Marie Claire’.

Renowned Bollywood director Prakash Jha went for five days to Nafplion, Greece, to wind up the scripting of his political parable Rajneeti. He urges the script to support his lead actor Ranbir Kapoor’s character thoroughly.

“It will give Ranbir an opportunity to do what his other films may not. It’s a very challenging role and since he features a political figure I’ve to ensure that the scripting supports him fully,” said Jha.

Beautiful Deepika Padukone, who stormed Bollywood with her debut film Om Shanti Om , is to lead the 28th India Day Parade in New York as Grand Marshal August 17 to celebrate India’s 61st Independence Day.

Organised by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), the parade moves down Madison Avenue in Manhattan, culminating at a venue where cultural and entertainment programmes are held.

The parade attracts around 50,000 people that makes it the biggest such event outside India.

Sanjay Dutt starrer Lage Raho Munnabhai which brought forward ‘Gandhigiri’ by imploring the values of Mahatma Gandhi, swept the 54th National Film Awards for 2006, by winning four honors along with the best popular film. It has became the first Hindi film sequel to repeat the feat of winning the award as Munnabhai MBBS had got the same honor in 2003.

Veteran Bengali film actor Soumitra Chatterjee won the best actor award for the Bengali film ‘Podokkhep’, whereas Tamil actress Priyamani received the best actress award for the film Paruthiveeran .

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is finally debuting in Hollywood. The actress has been selected on a story which will co-star Hollywood legend Meryl Streep. Titled Chaos, the film is an American production of Colin Serreau’s 2002 French movie.

Says a source, “They ran the concept with Meryl and Ash and they were game. They need to Americanise the theme because Chaos was a very French movie. But, yes, in principle Ash is on for this film.”Ash is slated to play a sex worker.

Ash says she’s asked for the final draft of the script. “Now the time factor has to be worked out. The time they want is devoted to Mani (Ratnam) Sir’s project. New dates have to be worked out. There’re so many projects that I want to do but because of the dates or a delay I can’t. There are only that number of assignments I can take on. I’ve never done more work than I can do. I never can.” Meanwhile, Aishwarya gets ready to shoot for Shankar’s Robot and Mani Ratnam’s film with Abhishek.

“The dates situation does get tighter for me because I was supposed to shoot Robot now and Mani Sir’s film a little later during the year. We just have to work under a tighter schedule now.”

Saif Ali Khan had not arrived to attend the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards gala here. But his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor was found having a gala time riding an auto rickshaw with good friend Tusshar Kapoor.

Kareena and Tusshar were together in the 2001 film “Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai”.

The actress, dressed casually in a T-shirt and jeans, had pulled her hair back and tied it in a bun. She was probably in a mood for some adventure.

The news about Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone got engaged, was so good but the only hitch is, nobody seems to have conveyed the good news to their families, or them! Deepika’s father, Prakash Padukone seems to have had enough.

Answering about his daughter’s rumoured engagement, Prakash Padukone says, “We are not even aware of this development and nobody has told us anything. That’s because it is just not true!”
