‘I have learnt to look past the link-ups’:Tanushree Datta
In an exclusive interview, Tanushree Datta told about her future projects, and about her career….
Q: You had earlier said that you seldom choose projects with three-four female leads. Why give the nod to Saas Bahu Aur Sensex?
Tanushree Datta: Though my first film was a multi-starrer, I prefer doing solo leads. This film got my approval because it is a character based venture and each actor has different roles to play.
Q: What’s your role like?
Tanushree Datta: I play this girl who moves in from a different city to Mumbai. Kirron Kher is my onscreen mother. There are different aspects to the movie.
Q: And what attracted you the most?
Tanushree Datta: The script, of course. I have been approached for romantic movies earlier but this film doesn’t revolve around me or for that matter around any one else. Interestingly, this venture, which isn’t a run-of-the mill project, gave me the opportunity to play a character.
Q: Will it work wonders for your career?
Tanushree Datta:Frankly, I don’t know. As actors, we expect our work to be appreciated and well received but we cannot say definitely how a project will fare for our career. It could be good, it could be bad.
Q: This film is directed by Shona Urvashi. What was it like working with a female director?
Tanushree Datta: She is pretty much regular. This is Shona’s second film after Chup Ke Se and I hope that she is better this time.
Q: Are you saying there were apprehensions when you decided to work with a two-film-old director?
Tanushree Datta:There were and still are a lot of apprehensions. The only reason I agreed to the project was because Warner Brothers had approached me for the same. I always wanted to work with them and what better way to do so than be part of their first production here?
Q: Apart from this, what else is keeping you busy?
Tanushree Datta:There’s the children’s action adventure film, Rama the Saviour and Run Bhola Run with Govinda and Tusshar in it.
Q: This will be your first tryst with a children’s film?
Tanushree Datta:That’s right. Right after my debut, I always had the desire to try out different roles. I have seen that a lot of senior actors are still stuck up in a mould. I never wanted to be cast in a mould. And I remember saying somewhere that I wanted to do an action role. So, here I am.
Q: What about some ‘real’ action on the small screen?
Tanushree Datta:I have been flooded with numerous offers but not at the moment. I was also offered to be a part of Khatron Ke Khiladi. Maybe in future I will.
Q: Talking about your past, the untoward incident on the sets of Horn Ok Please created quiet a controversy. Do you think by voicing your opinion, you took on too much?
Tanushree Datta:I have taken on too much at too young an age and too early on in my life. But that’s who I am. I am a happy-go-lucky girl and people tend to misconstrue this attitude. I am so because I choose to be so. Fact is, there are other facets to me too. I can be smart and sweet.
Q: Are people now wary about roping in Tanushree Dutta?
Tanushree Datta:I don’t know. People are people. I have worked with some wonderful people too and there was never the need to show them my other side. They have had nice things to say about me.
Q: So, has there been any apology from their side?
Tanushree Datta:There hasn’t been any from that front. I think that it takes greatness to apologise.
Q: Will you be great enough to forgive them if they do ask for your forgiveness?
Tanushree Datta:I don’t know but I am definitely going to consider.
Q: Did this incident act as an eye-opener for you?
Tanushree Datta:Not really. Different professional people follow different ideology. Every second day there is some controversy and I knew that such people exist. I have been smart enough to avoid them so far but somewhere I went wrong with my judgement.
Q: How do you judge the rumours about you being linked to Koena’s cousin?
Tanushree Datta:There have been numerous link-ups about me but I have learnt to look past them. I enjoy the attention.
