Rahul Bose has no Hollywood dreams
Most of the Indian cinestars have a dream of a role in a Hollywood movie ,but Rahul Bose has a different ambition. The actor has spellbound performances in many English films that has earned international appreciation,but he says that a role in Hollywood film, is not a good deal to be longed for and it is much better to work with Indian directors.
“I am not interested in Hollywood and its directors. For me Indian directors like Buddhadeb Dasgupta , Dev Benegal , Rituparno Ghosh and Sudhir Mishra are more interesting,” said the actor who won awards for roles in ‘Mr. and Mrs. Aiyer‘ and ‘Jhankar Beats.’
The uncrowned king of bollywood’s parallel cinema, who is coming with his latest movie Shourya , in which he plays an Army lawyer, hopes to good result with an “altogether different charm.”
Although Bose isnot enthused towards Hollywood roles, but he is flying to New York and Los Angeles next month for the release of ‘Before the Rains,’ a Hollywood debut by Indian cinematographer-director Santosh Sivan .
Bose had already won the Best Asian Actor award for his portrayal of ‘Kut Price’ a water seller in ‘Split Wide Open,’ a 1999 Dev Benegal film.
While he was in the capital for the premiere of his new flick said he did not dream of seeing his face on the front page of Gentlemen’s Quarterly , an international style magazine for men.
Described as “the art-house superstar” by international magazine ‘Time‘ Bose said, “I love my country and want to serve it through the medium of art. Indian art movies are second to none in the world.”
