Saif Ali Khan had not arrived to attend the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards gala here. But his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor was found having a gala time riding an auto rickshaw with good friend Tusshar Kapoor.

Kareena and Tusshar were together in the 2001 film “Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai”.

The actress, dressed casually in a T-shirt and jeans, had pulled her hair back and tied it in a bun. She was probably in a mood for some adventure.

“Chak De India,” a film about a field hockey player who returns to the game to coach a women’s team, swept nine honours at the glittering ninth IIFA awards in Bangkokat on Sunday.King Khan receives the best actor award for his inspiring role as a hockey coach in the film.

King Khan, who gave a miss to the ceremony in Bangkok Sunday night, virtually ruled the awards function as his home production Om Shanti Om also won five trophies. His award was collected by the film’s producer Yash Chopra.

The film’s director Shimit Amin received the best director’s award. Jaideep Sahani received the award for best story for the film.

The awards in the technical section won by the film were : cinematography, Sound recording and sound re-recording, editing.

Jaideep Sahani shared the screenplay award for the film with Anurag Basu (Life in a Metro).

Om Shanti Om, Khan’s home production bagged awards for art direction, costumes, special effects and make up. Javed Akhtar also won the best lyricist award for the song Main Agar Kahoon.

The awards ceremony was held at the Siam Niramit complex in the heart of Bangkok city.

Ritesh Deshmukh and Boman Irani were the hosts of the awards ceremony .They joked about actors having a new “weapon” called blog to take on their fellow actors. There was also a spoof on the films nominated in the best film category.

Kareena Kapoor received the best actress trophy for her performance in Jab we met while Ifran Khan and Konkana Sen Sharma who were adjudged the best actor and actress in a supporting role were not present to collect their awards.

Kareena Kapoor is looking forward to bring the house down with her sizzling performance at the IIFA awards in Bangkok.

Today, the three-day IIFA weekend has stared. Bollywood stars except the Khans, are flying towards hai capital for the gala event. The awards night on the final day would see performance by a host of Bollywood stars including Kareena Kapoor , who is shooting Main Aur Mrs Khanna in Australia and will fly to Bangkok soon.

While earlier Kareena never took her stage performances seriously, she has changed her attitude of late.

After shooting ‘Main Aur Mrs Khanna’ everyday, Kareena practices for her IIFA performance at nights with a choreographer sent by Shiamak Davar.

There is a reports that Kareena’s act will present her as a Bollywood diva. She has already roped in her favourite designer and friend Manish Malhotra to do her costumes.

After loosing some weight for Tashan, the sexy gal Kareena has increased a few kilos for her new movie Main Aur Mrs. Khanna.

A close source of the actress affirms that she has infact put on some weight for her new elegant look in Main Aur Mrs. Khanna. She had cut down her weight for Tashan because it was an action flick and required her to look slim. Her character in new movie is completely different. She features in this movie as a housewife and puts herself according to the character in this movie.

Manish Malhotra has designed her look for this movie. He says, ‘Kareena has made her style with the blockbuster hit Jab We Met. And how can anyone forget the gorgeous Poo of Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham in which she was full of attitude and she did it again with Tashan.’

Kareena adores the designer Aki Narula for her look in Tashan. Indeed, he got too much clients who are asking him to give them the Bebo look.

Saif is feeling Bebo-sick nowadays. He starts his first home production with co-star Deepika Padukone but wishes Kareena was with him on this ambitious project being directed by Imtiaz Ali .
No matter how much Saif wanted it at the time of casting, Imtiaz insisted on having Deepika rather than Kareena opposite Saif in the film. But it was a decision Saif took many months back.

The actor says if he had to take the call today, he would have insisted on having Kareena. In fact, Saif goes on to add that he would have dropped Imtiaz Ali rather than not having Kareena in the project.

It is impossible to change at the eleventh hour when Saif is already in London to begin the film’s shoot.

The recently released action multi-starrer “Tashan” has received unpleasant reviews, however, debutant director Vijay Krishna Acharya is satisfied with the film and says he made it particularly for audiences in the vicinity.

“I crafted the film for the ticket-paying audience at the grassroots. That community feeling, when an audience sits down to watch a film together, is incomparable. My characters are neither dignified nor righteous. But there was a core of innocence to them,” Acharya informed IANS.

“In the film, my attempt was to try to do mainstream the way I’d like to see it, to express the full-bloodedness of the masala movie. Very honestly, my action in ‘Tashan’ was a little orgiastic,” he added. The film features Kareena Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor.

“Tashan” is Acharya’s first feature film, but maneuvering the camera is not new to the director who hails from Kanpur. He directed TV soaps like “Just Mohabbat” and “Jassi Jaissi… Koi Nahin”.

Mentioning on the critics’ effect, he added: “Sometimes the makebelief of mainstream appears a little plastic to me. ‘Tashan’ is not for the faint-hearted.”

Kareena, in fact ate parathas, momos and bananas while she was trying to loss weight.

The actor’s nutritionist and dietician Rujuta Diwekar disclosed that Kareena not at all went on a crash diet. Rather, she was eating the so called fattening foodstuffs all through.
Kareena’s dietician also said that Kareena came to her to shed those extra kilos off her body because her role in the film Tashan needed her to sport the lean and slim appearance.

Kareena acts a call-centre employee in the film who is all the time looking for chances to deceive people and “someone who can never be believed”.

Rujuta stated, “Kareena gave me a brief saying that her character required her to be lean and sexy. She required a diet that’d help to lose weight. I knew that Kareena is a pure vegetarian and I wondered if she’d be able to attain her aim of losing a few kilos by just having a vegetarian diet.”
