What’s so special about the effects in Love Story 2050?

Futuristic sci-fi flick, Love Story 2050 looks to establish the standards of special effects in the country, with a big budget of Rs.500 million.

Mumbai looks like Shanghai by the robot; teddy bears and an energy-blasting fight scene are some of the visual effects in this movie.

The film by director Harry Bajewa will be released on July 4.

Love Story 2050, a debut movie of Harman Baweja opposite Priyanka Chopra, is focus on special effects.

India is growing as the outsourcing place for animation and special effects jobs of Hollywood studios.

Hindi filmmakers have no dare to invest huge money on special effects and prefer to give most of the film’s budget for stars. Therefore Hindi movies do not fulfill the international standards due to lack of effects and graphics.

But Oscar-winning special effects for The Golden Compass, the Hollywood blockbuster that took $370 million at the box office last Christmas, have given a chance to India to touch the global standard.

Post-production work like: complex digital effects such as the talking armoured polar bears in The Golden Compass, one of which sported a fur coat with seven million individually rendered hairs, to basic colour grading and so more has been increased.

Nasscom estimates that the global animation market will be grow up to $80 billion by 2010, and is going to make it as a main source of future outsourcing revenues of film work to India from the US and Europe.

Harman said,” It is not possible to meet the standards that West have set. It increases only the budget and with the kind of resources we work with, even though we may hire the best team out there but it is not enough.”

Indian filmmakers are hoping to sale of rights to mobile and gaming companies to recover costs. Oscar winner John Cox worked on a fully animatronic robot teddy bear, Babe and The Host in Love Story 2050. It also features a female robot and airborne fight sequences.

As outsourcing model is growing and reaching a level, big players making a claim products ownership because co-production gives multiple sources of income from different areas.

Now, all of us are looking for Love Story 2050, and both the film as well as the digital worlds will be hoping for the success of Love Story 2050.
